My first game from Saturday, as referenced in the previous post. I played poorly until move 16, and pretty well after that. Better than the other way round!
Thanks so much to Glenn Wilson of Houston Chess for the cool pgn viewer, ChessFlash. Chris, give it a try!

How do you put your file into text...I'm lost, I can't figure out how to get it to word or anything
Chris--what are you using to input the moves? If it has a pgn feature of some kind, you can paste to Word or clip board. If all else fails you can type the moves in.
It seems to me that white lost thread of what he was doing in this game so he played some moves (certainly at the end of the game) that make me wonder if he still was with his heart in that game.
chesstiger--yes, and that is the point. My opponent has completely outplayed me and is clearly winning after 22 moves, then makes a move that he probably thinks wins the queen, only to find that it gave away almost all of his advantage. Psychologially, this is very tough to deal with. Within 7 more moves he is lost.
The ability to just play the position in front of you as if you have no memory of how you got there is a precious jewel more valuable than knowing the Lucena position by heart...no one can do it always, even GMs get disheartened sometimes. If it can be learned/taught it's something worth spending lots of time and effort on.
I dub this game...
"Behold the power of my two bishops, bitch!"
Really I don't know if I can live on my nerves like this in the KID. You definitely have to keep an eye out for tactics, and it seems you walked a tightrope between having an actively placed Queen and trapped Queen.
I will have to do some KID investigating. Maybe this bears some further research.
@Wang--"I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, insanity or the King's Indian Defense to anyone, but they've always worked for me."

More proof that being a patzer and studying only tactics MLDM style just makes you a patzer that bought MLDMs book and fell for some crap.
Anon--a very cogent comment, except that if you had actually read this blog you'd know that I never bought MDLM's book and never studied only tactics. So your comment is only 75 percent crap. Admittedly, this was not a great game of chess, but if you come back by and point us to where we can examine some of your games, and we'll talk further.
DO - NOT - FEED - THE - TROLLS!!!
It was a good game Robert, don't let our underbridge dwelling trespasser tell you otherwise.
Hey Robert!
I know you gave 9..Bh8 a ? but it seems that keeping your bishop helped as the game went on. I am still a King's Indian neophyte but that move struck me as pretty cool. I have had a few problems with that exact scenario where I am afraid of white playing Bh6 so I make some bad pawn moves to "prevent" it. I think it is kind of neat since white ignores some development and then later the King's Indian Bishop comes back to bite him!
Tommyg
Wang--you're right, DFTT! :)
Tommyg--Well, the bishop only got free because of his error. I found the improvements for White after the game that would have left me very passive with a dead piece on h8, as I noted.
There are several ways to deal with the plan by White to exchange the Bg7, some of which you probably already know; you can play h6 and Kh7, the Re8/Ba8 thing I did, you can play Bxh6 (if it just leaves his queen by its lonesome on h6), or you can let him take on g7. Which one is best is sometimes very hard to judge--which is why the KID ain't easy!
Moving the Rf8-e8 is sometimes good but after that the f5 push that all of us live for is usually out, or ineffective, as in this game.
The KID sets BOTH sides a lot of critical problems. Best of luck with it! Wang, take the plunge!
Hey Robert!
Do you have a chess.com account?
Yeah Robert you need to join the rest of the cool kids over at chess.com. And by cool kids I am of course talking about me, Tommyg and Farbor.
